Working at Probst—in manufacturing
First he worked as a temp at Probst, then he started as the first apprentice - today Jörg Müller manages an important part of the production.
A conversation about career opportunities at Probst and benefits such as JobRad or fresh lunch from the local organic supplier.
How long have you been with Probst? What does your everyday life at Probst look like?
I started my "Probst career" as a tempThree years later, I then started an apprenticeship as a construction mechanic as the first apprentice at Probst. Later I was allowed to work as a journeyman in various departments until I found my permanent place in the locksmith's shop.
The range of tasks changed and office work became more and more important. A few years later, I successfully completed further training to become a master metalworker. As a young master craftsman, I was allowed to work in production and officially take over as the master craftsman's deputy. This made me very proud because he had become a kind of "foster father" for me over all these years.
At some point, I was given overall responsibility. This was a great challenge for me and the turning point of my entire time at Probst. Especially at this time I could rely on my colleagues and that developed a great dynamic. With the support of my colleague Oliver Ledwig, I took over smaller departmental areas and training in the commercial operation. From the delivered raw material to the fully assembled large-scale equipment, everything from a single source. And that's what makes our work so special.
In our production, two days are never the same. Due to the planning and organization of the individual department areas that are part of manufacturing, it never gets boring and I really appreciate that about my job.
What was your last big project that you successfully mastered?
We have many projects: Internal conversions, new acquisition of machines and their infrastructure, planning and execution of large and special equipment weighing tons - it is difficult for me to define something special.
But what I like about every project is being able to influence that the many small cogs run smoothly together and that we can then deliver our machines and equipment to our customers on time.
Probst makes hard work easier - for customers. But what does Probst do for its employees?
Probst does a lot for the employees. When I think back, my advanced training as a master metalworker comes to mind. I was always encouraged and supported by Probst.
By now we enjoy many conveniences: from work and protective equipment, which is personalized, to discounted lunches from the local organic supplier.
And now there is even the possibility to lease a job bike with Probst. I was happy to take this offer and now I also enjoy the benefits of an e-bike. That also makes hard work easier. (laughs)
Whats your favourite "Probst moment"?
So many beautiful moments remain in my memory: the steady growth of the company, my development and the numerous events, such as the 50th anniversary of the company. But also every day at work we constantly experience many beautiful moments in which everyone is well taken care of (laughs).
